Elizabethan Insults
I start most workshops with this competition. Participants choose one selection from each column. I ask them to speak their three selections (you greasy, lean-witted lackey) against a fellow student. Then judge the insults for color, fresh-minting and of course, nastiness and creativity in the voice. I like to have semi-finals, finals, and much debate and practice before crowning the nasty-insulter-of-the-day. It is a great warm-up!
